Brainrot words move fast. A term shows up in one streamer's chat, lands in a TikTok caption, and two weeks later a nine-year-old is saying it at dinner while the adults nod along. Skibidi

A nonsense word that can mean good, bad, or nothing at all. It is mostly a signal that the speaker is joking in Gen Alpha voice. 'What the skibidi' just means 'what on earth'.

Rizz

Charisma, especially the ability to flirt or talk someone into liking you. 'W rizz' is impressive, 'L rizz' is embarrassing, and to 'rizz someone up' is to charm them. A 'rizzler' is someone with a lot of it.

Gyatt

An exclamation for a large or attractive backside, said the way someone would gasp 'god damn'. Almost always a joke now, shouted at anything vaguely round.

Sigma

A lone-wolf, top-of-the-hierarchy person who does not follow the crowd. Used both seriously by teenagers and ironically by everyone else. 'What the sigma' is a general expression of confusion.

Aura

Coolness measured in points. You gain aura by doing something effortlessly impressive and lose it by doing something embarrassing. 'Aura farming' is deliberately posing to look cool.

Fanum tax

The bite a friend takes from your food without asking. Named after streamer Fanum, who is known for taking food from his friends on stream.

Ohio

A stand-in for any place where something weird or cursed happens. 'Only in Ohio' is the punchline for anything bizarre, whether or not it happened in Ohio.

Mewing

Pressing your tongue to the roof of your mouth to supposedly sharpen your jawline. In brainrot use it is a joke gesture: a finger over the lips and a hand tracing the jaw, meaning 'I can't talk, I'm mewing'. To 'mog' is to be more attractive than someone next to you.

Looksmaxxing

Trying to become as attractive as possible, from skincare to gym routines. Used ironically for any extreme self-improvement, and 'maxxing' gets attached to anything: 'sleepmaxxing', 'studymaxxing'.

Delulu

Delusional, in a self-aware and usually harmless way. 'Delulu is the solulu' means believing something unrealistic is the way to get it.

Cap

A lie. 'No cap' means 'I'm serious', and 'capping' means lying.

Bussin

Extremely good, almost always about food.

Drip

A stylish outfit. 'Dripped out' means dressed very well.

Slay

To do something impressively well, often about a look or a performance. Also used as a general 'yes, go you'.

Bet

Okay, deal, or 'yes' with a bit of confidence.

Sus

Suspicious. 'Sussy' is the childish version. 'Sussy baka' is a joke insult mixing sus with the Japanese word for idiot.

Simp

Someone who does far too much for a person they like, with no result. 'Simping' is the act.

NPC

A person acting like a background character in a game: repeating the same lines, no original thoughts. Also the TikTok live trend where creators react to gifts with fixed phrases.

Goofy ahh

Silly-looking or ridiculous. 'Ahh' is a censored spelling of a ruder word, and it attaches to anything: 'goofy ahh haircut', 'goofy ahh sound'.

Ick

A small thing someone does that instantly makes you lose attraction to them.

Ate

Did something perfectly. 'Ate and left no crumbs' means there is nothing to criticize.

Cooked

Doomed, finished, in serious trouble. The opposite meaning also exists: 'let him cook' means let him keep going, he is onto something.

Crash out

To lose control emotionally and do something reckless, usually over something small. A 'crashout' is the person or the episode.

W

A win. Said about anything that went well.

L

A loss. 'Take the L' means accept that you lost. Often stacked with other insults: 'L + ratio + no rizz'.

Ratio

When a reply gets more likes than the post it is replying to, which means the crowd disagrees with the original. Typing 'ratio' is an attempt to make that happen.

Based

Confident and unbothered by what others think, especially when saying something unpopular. Praise, usually.

Cringe

Embarrassing to watch. The opposite of based.

Mid

Average, disappointing, not worth the hype.

Fire

Excellent. Still one of the most common compliments.

Goated

The greatest of all time. 'Goated' means being at that level.

Lowkey

Slightly, secretly, or 'I don't want to admit it but'. 'Highkey' is the opposite: openly and strongly.

Fr

'For real.' Agreement or emphasis. Doubling it means very much so.

Ong

'On God.' A stronger 'I swear' or 'seriously'.

Deadass

Seriously, honestly, no joke.

Bruh

'Bro', said with disappointment or disbelief. A 'bruh moment' is a situation that deserves it.

Sheesh

An impressed exclamation, drawn out: 'sheeeesh'.

Yapping

Talking too much about nothing. A 'yapper' is a person who does it. 'Yapanese' is the joke language they speak.

Glazing

Praising someone so much it becomes embarrassing. A 'glazer' is a fan who does it.

Chopped

Ugly or badly done. The 2025 replacement for 'busted'.

Huzz

A joke replacement for a rude word for women, used by people pretending to be players. 'Bruzz' is the bros, and 'chuzz' is the ugly version.

Unc

Uncle. Someone who is old by Gen Alpha standards, which can start at 25. 'Unc status' is the condition.

Grimace shake

The purple McDonald's shake from 2023 and the trend of pretending it knocked you out after one sip.

Six seven

A number said with both hands bobbing up and down, palms up, like weighing two things. It means nothing, which is the point. Say it whenever the number 67 appears, or in place of any number.

It's giving

'It reminds me of' or 'it has the energy of'. Leave the sentence unfinished and it just means 'it's a vibe'.

Understood the assignment

Did exactly what the moment needed, and did it well.

Main character energy

Acting like the protagonist of a movie: confident, a bit dramatic, and the center of the scene.

Caught in 4K

Caught doing something with clear, undeniable proof.

Touch grass

Go outside and get off the internet. A polite way to say someone is too online.

Rent free

Something you cannot stop thinking about is 'living in your head rent free'.

Hits different

Feels much better or stronger than usual, in a specific situation.

Say less

'I understand, you do not need to explain more.' Enthusiastic agreement.

Is it just me or

A way to bring up an opinion you suspect everyone shares. Also a meme setup for an absurd claim.

Tell me without telling me

A challenge format: show something about yourself through an example instead of saying it.

Not me

A way to admit something embarrassing while pretending to deny it.

The way I

Emphasis on a reaction: 'the way I screamed' means I screamed a lot.

Real

'That's true and relatable.' A one-word agreement.

Vibe check

A quick read of someone's mood or energy. Failing it means you are being weird.

Skill issue

'That's your fault for not being good enough.' Originally about video games, now about everything.

Cope

Pretending to be fine about a loss. 'Copium' is the imaginary drug you take to do it.

Diff

A clear difference in skill between two people. To be 'gapped' is to lose by a lot.

Clutch

Winning at the last moment when it looked lost.

GG

'Good game.' Said when something ends, win or lose. 'GG EZ' is the rude version.

Griefing

Ruining a game for other players on purpose. Also used for sabotaging any group activity.

Steal a Brainrot

A Roblox game where you buy Italian brainrot characters and steal them from other players' bases. Most of the character names below are collectible units in it.

Chat

Talking to an imaginary audience the way a streamer talks to their viewers. 'Chat, is this real?' is disbelief; 'chat, we're cooked' is doom.

Poggers

Excited surprise. Slightly dated, which is why it is now used ironically.

KEKW

Laughing, in Twitch chat spelling. 'OMEGALUL' is laughing a lot.

Sussy baka

A joke insult combining 'sus' with the Japanese word for fool. Meant to sound silly.

Skibidi Toilet

The YouTube animated series where heads sing from toilets and fight camera-headed agents. The source of 'skibidi' and half of Gen Alpha's inside jokes.

Skibidi Ohio rizz

Three brainrot words in a row, used as a joke to mean 'peak brainrot' or to mock someone who talks like this.

Gooning

Originally an adult term for excessive self-pleasure; in brainrot use it is a vague joke about being addicted to anything, usually a game or a screen. Not for younger audiences.

Edging

Deliberately holding back before finishing something. Started as an adult term, now used for stalling in games or holding a reveal.

Alpha

The dominant leader type, the older cousin of 'sigma'. Now mostly a joke.

Beta

The opposite of alpha: weak, submissive, a follower. Almost always an insult.

Gigachad

The peak version of a confident, muscular man, from the black-and-white photo meme. 'Chad' alone is a bit less extreme.

Brainrot

Low-effort, endlessly scrollable content, and the fried mental state it leaves you in. Also the whole slang vocabulary on this page. Oxford's word of the year for 2024.

Bombardiro Crocodilo

A crocodile with the body of a bomber plane, one of the first Italian brainrot characters. Named in a mock-Italian rhyme.

Tralalero Tralala

A three-legged shark wearing blue sneakers. The most famous Italian brainrot character and usually the first one people learn.

Tung Tung Tung Sahur

A wooden log with a face holding a baseball bat, based on the Indonesian pre-dawn Ramadan wake-up drum. Its name is the drum sound.

Lirili Larila

An elephant with cactus skin wearing sandals, walking through the desert with a clock.

Brr Brr Patapim

A tree-like creature with long legs and a monkey face, named for the noise it makes.

Chimpanzini Bananini

A chimpanzee fused with a banana. Small, loud, and always in the picture.

Ballerina Cappuccina

A ballerina with a cappuccino cup for a head. Often paired with Cappuccino Assassino.

Cappuccino Assassino

A cappuccino cup with a ninja's body and two blades.

Boneca Ambalabu

A frog head on a car tire with human legs. One of the stranger ones.

Trippi Troppi

A cat-shrimp hybrid, usually shown swimming.

Frigo Camelo

A camel with a refrigerator for a body.

La Vaca Saturno Saturnita

A cow with the planet Saturn for a body, rings and all. Appears in space scenes.

Strawberry Elephant

An elephant made of strawberries, one of the most searched Italian brainrot characters of 2026, mostly because of its value in Steal a Brainrot.

Mateo

A Steal a Brainrot character whose name blew up in 2026 for being an ordinary human name among the animal-object hybrids.

Los Tralaleritos

Group characters: several small versions of a brainrot character together. 'Los Bros' and 'Los Primos' follow the same pattern in Steal a Brainrot.

La Grande Combinasion

A mash-up character built from several other brainrot characters, one of the rarest units in Steal a Brainrot.

Bombombini Gusini

A goose with jet engines, Bombardiro Crocodilo's cousin.

Glorbo Fruttodrillo

A crocodile with a watermelon body.

Italian brainrot

The whole genre of AI-generated animal-object characters with mock-Italian names, narrated in a dramatic Italian text-to-speech voice. Started on TikTok in early 2025 and became a card-collecting universe.

Rizzler

Someone with a lot of rizz. Also the name of a viral kid from a 2023 clip.

Zesty

Flamboyant or a bit over the top. Can be a compliment or a dig depending on tone.

Bop

A catchy song. In 2025 it also became a rude word for someone who has been with many partners; context decides.

Fein

To crave something badly, from 'fiend'. Revived by the Travis Scott song.

Opp

An opponent or enemy. Used jokingly for anyone mildly annoying.

Pookie

A cute pet name for a partner or a friend.

Tweaking

Acting crazy or overreacting.

Bricked up

Frozen, stuck, or unable to respond. Also a cruder meaning; check the audience.

Womp womp

A sarcastic 'too bad' sound effect for a complaint you do not care about.

Nah I'd win

Absolute confidence in a fight you would probably lose. A quote turned into a caption for any overconfident moment.

Stand proud

Respect for someone who lost but fought well. Also from Jujutsu Kaisen.

Lock in

Focus completely and get serious.

Down bad

Desperate, usually for attention from someone.

Hawk tuah

A 2024 street-interview clip that became a catchphrase for anything spit-related and then for the woman in it. Adult humor; know your audience.

Very demure, very mindful

Modest and considerate, said in the voice of the 2024 TikTok trend. Now ironic.

Just put the fries in the bag

'Stop talking and do your job.' Said to anyone who is over-explaining.
